Facebook just had a big virtual reality conference in San Jose, California. The conference entitled Oculus Connect, invited attendees to try a series of demos on the latest VR headset in which Facebook has been developing.
This new virtual reality headset is called the Oculus Quest. Facebook plans to launch this in the Spring of 2019. Older versions include the Oculus Rift and Oculus Go. These versions required cords that would get tangled, which was notably less appealing than the new Oculus Quest.
“It’s the first major virtual reality headset that is both completely standalone and able to track a user’s location in the real world — meaning you’re freed from having to place external sensors or lug around a backpack-mounted computer to power the experience.”-Business Insider
The demos were in the form of athletic games, like tennis and golf. They featured real opponents and the games were reported to be as real as it gets.

Virtual reality still has some developing to do. Though it can be involving and interesting to incorporate into business and projects, the actuality of the bulky, heavy goggles are hard to get past. Though the goggles take you to a new dimension, it’s still difficult to fully immerse yourself, and it can be hard to focus.

As we demo virtual reality devices, and have conferences like these, we get closer to making these devices better. It’s still tough to predict how these devices will respond in the business setting, instead of the controlled environments like the settings and demos at conferences.
