Workplace Tech Trends

June 5, 2019 10:00 am

Have you noticed any shifts or changes at your office this year? Are there more people working remotely, AI being used more or, maybe, has creative office designing taken shape? We’d love to hear about the tech trends at your company. Here are some of the tech trends that we have noticed during our travels and as we meet with clients.

Remote Access and Flexibility

More and more, we notice the trend that there are more remote employees than ever before. Some businesses have begun to realize that “working from home” is not synonymous with goofing off, but rather with increased productivity and a better ability to juggle home and work responsibilities. Remote communication tools like Slack are helping workers stay connected and get work done remotely.

On the same vein as remote access is the trend of having flexible hours that can help employees with avoiding peak traffic congestion, family responsibilities, and tending to clients who are in a different time zone.

Office Configurations

Physically, we have begun to notice the physical space of workplaces changing as well. Many companies are rearranging workstations so that tech can be easily accessed and in a way that allows for better communication and collaboration between employee teams. Some offices are trying out an open floor plan where private work rooms or separate cubicles are being replaced with open work areas. Depending upon the industry and level of privacy needed, some companies are trying out different versions of an open concept.

AI Integration

We have noticed that many businesses are putting AI to work, whether it is in the production aspect or within the walls of the actual office itself. One of the areas that Prysm online has seen an increase in this trend is in identity access management, which enables an employee’s profile and preferences to automatically appear on displays and other equipment as soon as they enter a conference room.

What trends have you noticed? And how do those trends impact businesses? We’d love to hear from you about the trends you have seen in your workplace. Tell us in the comments below.
