Welcome back! In today’s blog, we’ll continue looking back at 2020 and what we have learned throughout this new remote work world that we currently live in. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to read through part 1 of this blog before continuing onto part 2 below.
Get The Most Out Of Your Internet Speeds
Plug Into Your Router Or Relocate Your Work Station
The best way to ensure that your internet speeds are working properly and are up to par is to physically plug it into your router via the LAN cable. We know, we know – this isn’t always possible, but if you are able to, plugging your computer into the router is the best way to boost speeds and keep them high consistently.
If it’s just simply impossible for you to achieve a wired-in connection to your internet, simply moving closer to the router can be an excellent way to boost your wifi. Thick walls, other signals, and more can all have an effect on the wifi signals that you are receiving, and moving a bit closer to the router can drastically improve your speeds, removing obstacles.
Make Sure Other Devices Are Off
In an age where even the refrigerator is connected to the internet, everything is taking internet bandwidth away from your workstation. To ensure blazing internet speeds, you’ll want to make sure that these devices are either disconnected or set up to not restrict automatic updates at certain times of the day. If you have children in the household or are a gamer yourself, you’ll want to make sure that devices such as Playstation and Xbox are also running on restricted internet usage as automatic updates can range from 30-100 gigs!
Utilize Project Management Tools
Remote Communication Tools
While company-wide communication tools may have been a convenience prior to 2020, they have now become the primary source of communication throughout many businesses. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend implementing tools, such as Slack, into your daily business operations to encourage simple, straightforward communication within and between departments and your staff.
Cloud-Based Collaboration Tools
The future is in the cloud, especially while we all work from home. 2021 may very well be the year where companies, small and large, perfect what Gartner calls, Anywhere Operations. By utilizing tools, such as Google Drive and Amazon Web Services, your business can unlock a new level of collaborative opportunities, both in and out of the office. With live, real-time, working documents, simple sharing settings, and immediate availability once created, cloud-based computing and storage tools allow your business to travel with you, no matter where you work from.
