Maybe you’re traveling for work, maybe you’re taking devices out of the office, or maybe the power is down at your office. Whether you have a specific reason for attempting to extend your battery life to its fullest, or if you’re just curious about battery life and your computer health, read our tips for you.
Charging Devices Properly
Extending your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone battery starts with properly charging every night (or when dead). This includes the correct cord, the correct charging block, and a trusted power source. Plug your device in when it’s fully dead, and let it charge completely. Don’t let it sit on the charger for longer than it needs to, as this can prematurely shorten your device’s battery life. Let your device charge fully before removing from the charging block, and try not to charge in small increments. Plug it in when it’s dead and let the device charge fully, instead of charging for small amounts at a time and unplugging for use.
Initiate Low Power Mode
Whenever possible, set your device to power saver mode. We know iPhones prompt you to initiate low power mode when you reach under 20% battery. You initiate low power mode on your laptops, computers, tablets, and other devices when you’re really trying to extend the last leg of your battery life.
Treating Your Devices With Care
When plugging and unplugging chargers, be sure you’re treating your devices with care. If you’re rough with your charger, you may damage the end of your cord, or damage the inside of your device. Plug in chargers slowly and easily, and don’t force things to plug in if they don’t seem to fit.
Turn Off Device When Not In Use
There are a few steps you can take to ensure you’re getting the most out of your battery life. This mainly includes turning devices off when not in use. Many users will leave their computers and laptops on overnight which slows the unit down immensely. Be sure to restart your computer everyday, and ensure everything is saved and backed up appropriately.
The battery life of your technology depends on how well you take care of your devices. Charging your technology can seem like something simple or mindless, but your charging habits greatly impact the health of your technology. Extend your time with your electronics by mindfully caring for your technology.
