How do you use Google Drive? Do you chart your expenses on spreadsheets? Share docs or files with coworkers? Email your clients? Maybe you even create slides and presentations with Google Slides? Whatever your favorite aspect of this application may be, there’s probably still more you can learn.

Launched in April 2012, Google Drive is one of the most versatile cloud storage services available, with over 1 billion users as of 2018. Most users find Google Drive to be simple, collaborative, and best of all… free! Here are our favorite things about using Google Drive.

Collaboration

If your job requires that you collaborate on projects, then Google Drive is perfect for you. The ability to share docs and entire folders of information means that you and your coworkers can work on data at the same time. Editing functions allow users to edit, make content suggestions, or simply view docs. Along the margin, coworkers can make comments as to how to improve or change the doc. This comes in handy when you want a second or third set of eyes on your project before you present it.

Restoring or Reviewing Previous Versions

One amazing aspect of Google Drive is the ability to review the changes you or your team members have made to shared docs. You have the choice to restore previous versions or see what changes have been made, and by whom. This gives your team options when it comes to deciding on which version they like best instead of relying on memory to rewrite or reorganize a document.

Google is ever expanding and forward-thinking. Google offers dozens of third-party applications through Drive including apps that let you make diagrams, edit photos, build 3D models, make sketches, and so much more.
