Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is a rapidly evolving, and majorly impactful technology that is shaking up multiple industries. The ability of computer systems to perform tasks that at one time required human intelligence is a significant step in computer learning.
We’ve touched upon the idea that A.I. is being used as a defense against cyberthreats, but in this article we’ll break down exactly how the technology is being implemented, and how its impacting the cybersecurity industry.
Detecting Threats & Breach Attempts
In an article written by Forbes, its stated that 61 percent of businesses could not recognize cyberattacks without assistance from A.I. This means that companies are well beyond experimenting with artificial intelligence to improve their cybersecurity, and they’re now relying on the technology to keep their organizations secure and functioning.
As a result of this, cybersecurity budgets are increasing, and the technology is becoming more and more commonplace in businesses worldwide.
Biometric Logins
Biometric logins are essentially verifications of an individual’s identity that are required before that individual can log into their accounts. Examples of this include fingerprint verification, facial recognition, and even retina scan confirmations.
The obvious and most significant benefit of these biometric logins is added security. It’s become much more challenging for cybercriminals to access accounts that may contain personal and private information as a result of the additional verification. It now takes more than simply figuring out a password to get into a user’s account.
Fishing out Phishing Attacks
As the general public began to figure out what emails looked, “phishy”, cybercriminals began to complicate their attacks. The emails became harder to identify and much more common.
In 2019, it’s believed that 1 in every 99 emails is a phishing attack. Luckily, Artificial Intelligence can react much quicker to these attacks than humans can by identifying potentially harmful links and phony email addresses.
A.I. has become a staple of many companies strategies to combat cyberattacks. From threat detection to security verifications, artificial intelligence is already making a tangible impact in the cyberspace.
